Border Patrol

Border Patrol started as just a group of people on horseback that were assigned the job of watching the U.S. borders. The actual agency of The Border Patrol was founded in 1924. They were placed along the United States-Mexico border and the United States-Canada border. After 9/11 the border control went way up and the laws were made much stricter.

The U.S. made the border patrol more strict after 9/11 because they were afraid of terrorist attacks. I don't agree with this because I don't believe that we have to worry about Mexican terrorists because i don't think there are any. I do believe that we have to worry about the Mexican drug wars coming into the United States but I don't see them wanting to bring the drug war into the United States. What would moving to the U.S. do to the drug war? It would only make it harder for the drug lords. The Mexican drug lords have more power than the Mexican police but if they were to come to the U.S. they would be absolutely powerless. The only reason the U.S. passes bills like The Southwest Border Security Bill is to make people feel more safe. It allows police to use race/ethnicity as reasonable cause. Laws like this are wrong. Why aren't Mexicans allowed to live in a safe country. There are people living in Mexico that do not have enough money to move to the U.S. because of all the border laws and are unsafe because of the Mexican drug wars. They are perfectly good people that have nowhere to go because of our government wanting to give us a false sense of security.

If we are attacked by terrorists, it won't be from Mexico.

Gun Control

I believe that all guns should be banned in the U.S. That would cut off on a lot of the illegal gun trafficking in the U.S. The way that a lot of gun trafficking takes place is trough an inside man at gun shops. If you eliminate the gun shops then you eliminate the main source of guns. You will still have people smuggling guns from different countries but it will be harder to get guns into the U.S.

One of the main arguments is that the people who buy guns are people that are going to use them for good reasons and not bad. People say that it's the people that get them illegally that use them for crime but like I said above, they get them from inside people at gun stores and gun clubs.

There will always be people smuggling guns in from other countries and the only thing we can do about that is keep trying to find new ways to keep border patrol heavy. We have already made steps to cutting down the illegal importing of guns into the country. For instance, it is impossible to smuggle things by plane now with the boost of security.

Banning guns will make the U.S. a safer place to live.

As an ending note I would like to say that I do support both sides of this issue. I just don't support conservative views on this issue. I support logical views on the issue like "criminals don't care about the laws, they will still do it".

Have your own opinion.
